17-Year-Old Arrested For Allegedly Impregnating 10 Ladies In Rivers

The Rivers Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly impregnating 10 ladies.

The suspect, Noble Uzuchi, was nabbed with his accomplice, Chigozie Ogbonna, 29.

According to the authorities, the two suspects and two other ladies, Favour Bright and Peace Alikoi, were allegedly running a baby factory.

Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, said the arrests were carried out following a tipoff.

In a statement, Iringe-Koko stated the four suspects operated in the Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre local government areas of the state before their arrest.

She added the 10 pregnant ladies had been rescued by the Force operatives after the raid and arrest of the suspects.

“On Saturday, January 7, 2023, around 4.45 pm, while acting on credible intelligence available to the Rivers State Police Command, C4I Intelligence Unit operatives raided two houses at Igwuruta and Omagwa communities respectively, where victims of child trafficking were being kept.

“The victims rescued in the operation are 10, most of them pregnant,” she said.

She claimed that investigations found that when a victim delivered her baby, the syndicate leader kept the child and paid N500,000 while some of the babies previously delivered in the houses had been sold.

“All the victims confessed that they were lured to the illicit sales of children because of the need to meet some financial challenges. A Honda Pilot Jeep, white, was recovered from the syndicate leader,” she added.

The Police Command in Kaduna State announced the arrest of a suspect in possession of 30 different fabricated master keys for vehicles and motorcycles. The command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the arrest to o24news on Monday in Kaduna.

Hassan stated, “The suspect specializes in vehicle and motorcycle theft.” On July 20, around 2:30 AM, police personnel received a distress call reporting a shop burglary. Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect, Zahradeenee Suleiman, was arrested inside the shop.

Suleiman, 35, resides on Galma Road in the Tsugugi area of Sabon Gari Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A search revealed about 30 different sizes of vehicle and motorcycle keys, including two locally fabricated master keys, in his possession.

Hassan added that the suspect, known for vehicle and motorcycle theft, will be charged to court for prosecution after the investigation is completed.

58 Nigerians Rescued from Human Traffickers in Ghana

A total of 58 Nigerian women and children have been rescued from human traffickers in Ghana, bringing the total number of rescued Nigerians in Accra to 105 over the last three months.

The Chairman of Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation (NiDO) Board of Trustees in Ghana, Chief Callistus Elozieuwa, disclosed this to Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), during her visit to the trafficked victims in Accra.

A statement by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Commission’s Head of Media and Public Relations, revealed the breakdown of those rescued: Kano State – 47, Katsina State – 5, Jigawa State – 2, and Kaduna State – 4.

Additionally, 11 previously rescued girls have been repatriated back to Nigeria. This brings the total number of rescues to 105 in recent months.

Some suspected agents have been apprehended and handed over to security agencies and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for prosecution.

Dabiri-Erewa commended NIDO Ghana, the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb. Ifedayo Adeoye, and Ghanaian law enforcement agencies for their cooperation. The rescued individuals are being sent back to Nigeria for proper profiling, counseling, and rehabilitation by NAPTIP and their respective state governments.

Iraqi court sentences former IS leader’s wife to death

An Iraqi court on Wednesday sentenced the wife of the former top leader of the Islamic State (IS) group Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to death.

According to Supreme Judicial Council statement, the Karkh Criminal Court issued the death verdict for the wife of the terrorist over joining the IS group and detaining the kidnapped Yazidi women in her house in west Mosul.

In 2019, the U.S. forces conducted a raid targeting al-Baghdadi in Syria’s northern province of Idlib, killing the IS leader.

Al-Baghdadi, whose real name is Ibrahim Awad al-Badri, established the IS in 2014.

The extremist militant group, which once captured large swathes of land in western and northern Iraq, was defeated in late 2017.
