NiMet predicts 3-day thick dust haze, sunshine from Thursday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze and sunshine from Thursday to Saturday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja predicted thick dust haze on Thursday over the Northern region throughout the forecast period.

According to the agency, cloudy conditions with sunny intervals are expected over the North Central region.

It, however, forecast moderate dust haze over Plateau, Niger and Federal Capital Territory throughout the forecast period.

NiMet anticipated partly cloudy conditions over the Inland cities of the South and coastal cities in the morning hours.

It envisaged prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers States later in the day.

“On Friday, moderate dust haze condition with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the Northern region during the forecast period.

“Cloudy conditions with sunny intervals are expected over the North Central region however, there are prospects of moderate dust haze over Plateau, Niger and Federal Capital Territory throughout the forecast period.

“Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated over the inland cities of the South and coastal areas during the morning hours.

“Thunderstorms are expected over parts of Cross River, Bayelsa and Delta States in the afternoon/evening hours,” it said.

The agency predicted slight dust haze condition on Saturday over the northern region during the forecast period.

It forecast partly cloudy conditions with sunny intervals over the North Central cities during the forecast period.

“Partly cloudy conditions are anticipated over the inland cities of the South and coastal cities with chances of morning thunderstorms over Cross River and River States.

“In the afternoon/evening period, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Imo, Abia, Ondo, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States,” it said.

According to NiMet, all Airline operators are advised to avail themselves of weather reports periodically from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.

NiMet urged citizens to switch off and disconnect electronics from power supply to avoid damages that could occur as a result of lightning flash at places where thunderstorms were expected.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rains from Sunday to Tuesday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja forecasts thunderstorms on Sunday with rains over parts of Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kebbi, Kaduna, Gombe, and Yobe States during the morning hours.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over the entire northern region. Rains are expected over the North Central region in the morning hours.

“Moderate thunderstorms with rains are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Benue and Kogi states.

“Intermittent rains are anticipated in the morning hours over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Delta states,’’ it said.

According to the agency, intermittent rains are expected to prevail over parts of Osun, Oyo, Ekiti, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon/evening hours.

The agency predicted morning thunderstorms on Monday with rains over parts of Kebbi, Sokoto, Bauchi, Kaduna, Borno, Taraba and Katsina States.

NiMet envisaged moderate thunderstorms later in the day over parts of Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Sokoto, Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Adamawa and Katsina States.

The agency anticipated rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau states during the morning hours.

It predicted moderate thunderstorms with rains later in the day over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger and Kogi States.

“There are prospects of intermittent rains over parts of Edo, Rivers and Delta states with cloudy atmosphere over the remaining southern states.

“Later in the day, moderate/intermittent rains are expected over parts of Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Delta and Rivers States,” it said.

According to NiMet, morning thunderstorms are predicted on Tuesday with rains over parts of Yobe, Adamawa, Borno, and Taraba States.

The agency forecast thunderstorms over the entire northern region later in the day.

It predicted rains over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger and Kwara states with cloudy skies over the remaining states during the morning hours.

“In the afternoon or evening hours, intermittent rains are expected over part of the Federal Capital Territory, Kwara and Niger states.

“There are prospects of morning rains over parts of Edo, Delta, Imo and Anambra States with cloudy skies anticipated over the remaining parts of the southern region.

“Later in the day, intermittent rains are expected over parts of Ondo, Edo, Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa states,’’ it said.

NiMet advised the public to take adequate precaution as strong winds might precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms were likely to occur.

It further advised residents to avoid flood-prone areas as there is a high likelihood of urban flooding in major cities due to downpours.

“Adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities. Residents are advised to stay informed through weather updates from NiMet.

“Visit our website www.nimet.gov.ng. Public and airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,’’ it said.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rains across the country from Friday to Sunday.

According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Thursday in Abuja, the forecast for Friday includes morning thunderstorms over parts of Kano and Kaduna States, with thunderstorms expected later in the day over Bauchi, Gombe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

In the North Central region, morning thunderstorms and rains are expected over parts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kogi, Benue, Niger, and Nasarawa States. Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, and Kwara States.

Morning rains are expected over parts of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Edo, Ondo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Delta States, with intermittent rains over the entire Southern region later in the day.

On Sunday, morning thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Kebbi, Kaduna, and Zamfara States, while afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over Gombe, Kaduna, and Bauchi States.

In the North Central region, thunderstorms and rains are forecast over parts of the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Niger States during the morning hours, with additional thunderstorms expected later in the day over the FCT, Plateau, Nasarawa, and Benue States.

Morning rains are predicted over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Edo, and Lagos States, with intermittent rains later in the day over Osun, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days sunshine and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday across the country.

NiMet weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja forecast sunny skies on Monday with patches of clouds over the northern region with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Taraba state later in the day.

”Sunny skies with cloud patches are anticipated over the North Central region with prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Benue state during the afternoon and evening period.

”Cloudy skies are anticipated over the southern states with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states.

” In the afternoon to evening hours, isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Edo, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Bayelsa states,” it said.

NiMet anticipated sunny skies on Tuesday with patches of clouds over the northern region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Adamawa, Kaduna and Taraba states later in the day.

It envisaged the North Central region to be predominantly cloudy with chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau and Nasarawa states during the afternoon and evening hours.

“Cloudy atmosphere is expected during the morning hours over the southern states during the morning
hours.

“Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Oyo, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Delta and Lagos states,” it said.

According to NiMet, sunny atmosphere with patches of clouds are anticipated over the northern region with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Taraba, Adamawa and Kaduna states during late hours on Wednesday.

It predicted the North Central region to be cloudy with intervals of sunshine during the morning hours with isolated thunderstorms over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, Niger, Kwara and Kogi later in the day.

The agency envisaged a cloudy atmosphere with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Cross River states during the morning period.

NiMet anticipated thunderstorms over Imo, Enugu, Anambra, Ekiti, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Ebonyi, Delta, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day.

The agency urged the public to take adequate precaution as strong winds might precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms were likely to occur.

NiMet advised Airline operators to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
