APC Support Groups applaud the performance President Tinubu first year in office

The score cards of the first year of the All-Progressives Congress, APC led administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has been applauded by the Amalgamated All progressive Congress APC Support Groups AASG
This was affirm on Tuesday 28 May in recognition of the perforinance and achievement of the Tinubu’s Adminiastration base on a well articulated policy formulation and implementation in the last twelve months

In his address, while briefing reporters on the first year of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration, Alhaji Salman Akurede, an APC stalwart and a frontline aspirant of the office of the Director General of AASG said, while the group acknowledges the performance and achievements of the Administration so far, they encourages the government to do more in the areas of service delivery to enable Nigerians reap the dividends of democracy.

The group also called on President Tinubu to create more incentives to encourage women entrepreneurship at the grassroot to support the poverty allevation program of the renewed hope agenda

It however, pleaded with Nigerians to be patient and continue to support the president with the assurance that he will deliver on his campaign promises

Akorede asserted that the group recognizes that the first twelve months have been turbulent, given the very bold steps that this administration has taken in the formulations and implementation of very tough economic reform policies

He said, “we are very optimistic, that gradually, the reforms are yielding results with the value of our local currency maintaining some reasonable level of stability, compared to the previous months when the Naira witnessed daily crash to the dollar”

“We must also admit that the inflation rates are still very high, thus skyrocketing the prices of essential commodities almost beyond affordability, and we plead with the Government to address these issues as quickly as possible, to bring some succor to the masses who are most hit by the attendant hardships

“While we acknowledge tremendous improvement in the area of security, there’s much more to be done to curb the menace of bandits and armed robbery and kidnapping that are still wreaking havoc in many communities across the nation”

“We suggest that the government undertakes a comprehensive review of the nation’s security architecture with a view to upgrading capacity to effectively tackle security challenges in the country”

Alhaji Akurede further said that as people who deal directly with the grassroots, and has keenly observed the vulnerability of the youths and the rampant involvement in crime and criminality, that a lot needs to be done by this government in area of job creation to reduce youths unemployment and minimize drastically their been use to perpetrate these menace.

Akurede said that they wish to remind President Tinubu that most of their members, who were his grassroot campaigners and foot soldiers during the elections are still not been compensated or rewarded or receive any form of recognition from his government.

“While this may not be a deliberate act of commission, or, omission on the part of the government, we feel this requires very urgent attention, now, as the race for the 2027 general elections have begun in earnest”

“The role and importance of the support groups cannot and should not be down played by an incumbent interested in securing a second term of office
We have observed, quite painfully how, the lack of inclusion of support groups members in government, has not only alienated us from the government we worked hard to bring on board, but, also, has created a bug gulf, which the opponents are exploiting to dominate the public space with negative narratives about the government, giving it a very unpalatable public perception among the people”

“We do not need to stress the point that all the negative backlashes and public outrage being directed at our government are as a result of the absence of the real foot soldiers who would have been better placed to publicize and defend the government, had their potentials been tapped and deployed to effective use by the government”

“We must admit here that despite the remarkable work that has been done by this government in the last one year, it’s public perception is not on the high side, and this should be a course of worry”

“In our view there is very low, or, near absence of the involvement of party and supporters in the running of the affairs of government, which has made the APC administration vulnerable on all fronts giving the opposition a free reign”

“This cannot be allowed to continue unchecked if the project 2027, is to succeed

We therefore urge Mr. President to remember his promise to reward loyalty and hard work, by immediately setting machinery in motion for the inclusion of the support groups members in his administration “

“We also would like to appeal to the party to speed up action towards ensuring the conduct of a credible election for the Amalgamated APC Support Groups AASG”

Time is no longer on our side, He said.

Jos DisCo urges Gombe customers to reciprocate improved power supply

The Jos Electricity Distribution Plc (JED), on Wednesday, appealed to its customers in Gombe State to pay their electricity bills as a way of reciprocating the improved power supply in the state and its franchise.

Mr Abdu Mohammed, the managing director of JED, made the call while speaking at a customer consultative forum held in Gombe.

Mohammed decried the non-payment of electricity bills by consumers in the state, noting that the attitude of energy users in that regard was posing a big challenge to the company.

Represented by Mr Yerima Baba, the manager of Doma regional office, Mr Mohammed said the customers had a duty to pay for services that they have enjoyed.

According to him, this will enable JED sustain the improvement towards guaranteeing customers’ satisfaction across its franchise.

He stated that in the month of August, the energy bill for the state was N1.3 billion and only about 15.4 per cent of the total bills charged had been paid by customers.

“The electricity business is changing gradually and drastically. It is well known that Jos electricity is giving out the total volume of energy.

“There are feeders we give up to 100 per cent energy; this means that if translated to money, our monthly energy increases as well as the bill.

“But unfortunately, the response from the customers is appalling, so bad that if it continues like that, it would be difficult to sustain the business.

“We are consuming the total energy that is worth over N2 billion yet, the income generated from the two regions in Gombe State as at Tuesday September 17 is less than N200 million.

“We were billed over N1.3 billion for the month of August for the whole of Gombe and Doma,” he said.

Mohammed said there was high level of apathy in terms of payment of electricity bills, lamenting that people were paying just what they like.

“We are calling on customers to reciprocate now that energy is stable and availability is increasing; we are out to serve you please help us to serve you better,” he said.

Mohammed also decried the high rate of energy theft and vandalism which he said was affecting the company.

Also speaking, Mr Saad Abubakar, the manager of Gombe regional office said JED was working to improve on its metering, adding that improvements and customers’ satisfaction remained a critical component of the organisation.
