Gospel Singer Aduke Gold Passes Away, Fans Mourn Her Legacy
The Nigerian gospel music community is in mourning following the death of beloved gospel singer Aduke Ajayi, popularly known as Aduke Gold. The news of her passing was announced on Tuesday by fellow gospel artist Esther Igbekele, who shared a tribute on social media with Aduke Gold’s photo and the caption, “A general has fallen. RIP.”
Aduke Gold’s death comes shortly after the loss of another prominent gospel singer, Egbin Orun, who passed away on April 28, 2024. Esther Igbekele, who had confirmed Orun’s death on Instagram, also mourned Aduke Gold, further deepening the sorrow within the gospel music community.
Aduke Gold was widely celebrated for her impactful contributions to the gospel music industry. Her breakthrough single, “Nitori Ogo” (translated as ‘Because of Glory’), which was part of her popular eight-track album, garnered widespread acclaim on social media and solidified her place in the hearts of many fans.
Despite the competitive nature of the industry, Aduke Gold’s music and inspiring life story resonated with many. She openly shared her struggles, including her early life challenges of selling slippers, yam, and fried fish to make ends meet. She recounted her experience packing fish heads at a frozen foods store and learning to cook with firewood during times of scarcity. Orphaned at the age of four and battling severe vertigo, Aduke Gold’s journey to success was one of resilience and determination.
Aduke Gold’s achievements extended beyond music. She held a degree in History and International Relations from Lagos State University, which she earned through a scholarship from Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, the former Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Lagos State. She also obtained a higher degree in Child Psychology, a Diploma in Montessori Education from the UK, and numerous qualifications in Special Education, Aquaculture, Cake Making, Cookery and Decoration, Music Rudiment, Business, and Piano.
In addition to her music, Aduke Gold was passionate about working with children with special needs, including those with autism, cerebral palsy, and dyslexia. Her multifaceted career and commitment to helping others have left an indelible mark on both the gospel music industry and the broader community.
As fans and colleagues remember Aduke Gold, her legacy of faith, resilience, and dedication to her craft and community continues to inspire.
