Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is recalibrating his strategy to address his new main competitor, Vice President Kamala Harris. This shift comes after President Joe Biden’s unexpected withdrawal from the race, endorsing Harris as the likely Democratic nominee.
The Trump campaign plans to spotlight Harris’s involvement in key issues like immigration and the economy. They intend to portray her as a significant contributor to the policies they claim have led to voter dissatisfaction in these areas.
Trump’s campaign had anticipated Biden’s possible exit and had been preparing to confront Harris. Following Biden’s announcement, Trump expressed confidence, stating Harris would be easier to defeat than Biden.
The campaign’s tactics will include linking Harris closely to Biden’s immigration policies and emphasizing public dissatisfaction with high living costs. A new ad campaign from Make America Great Again Inc. accuses Harris of covering up Biden’s shortcomings and blames her for various policy failures.
Trump, known for his harsh rhetoric, previewed potential attacks against Harris at a recent rally, questioning her suitability based on her demeanor.
The Democratic Party is still navigating the ramifications of Biden’s withdrawal, with Harris yet to secure the nomination officially. However, her candidacy could bring a new dynamic to the race, representing a generational and cultural contrast to Trump.

Yobe Govt Donates N100m to Support Borno Flood Victims
Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, has extended a N100 million donation to the Borno State Government to aid victims of the recent Maiduguri floods. The announcement was made during a sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in Maiduguri on Saturday.
In addition to the state donation, Governor Buni also pledged a personal contribution of food items worth N50 million to assist those affected by the floods. He described the humanitarian crisis as devastating and urged everyone to come forward with support.
“Yobe and Borno states are like twins, sharing similar hardships. We must stand by each other in times of need,” Buni stated.
The Yobe Governor also expressed condolences for those who lost their lives in the disaster and wished a quick recovery for the injured.
Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to Governor Buni and the people of Yobe State for their generosity and solidarity. He highlighted the strong bond between the two states, noting that Buni’s administration has further strengthened the unity between Borno and Yobe.
“The people of Yobe and Borno are one family, and this support reinforces that connection. We deeply appreciate the gesture,” Zulum said.
Atiku, Fubara Arrive Benin for PDP’s Edo Gubernatorial Campaign Finale
Ahead of the upcoming Edo State gubernatorial elections, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains, including 2023 presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, have arrived in Benin for the party’s campaign grand finale.
Joining Atiku is Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, both of whom are in Edo to bolster support for the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the September 21 election.
