Obama Endorses Harris for Presidency with Powerful Speech

Former U.S. President Barack Obama delivered a stirring endorsement of Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris during a convention in Chicago. Known for his powerful oratory, Obama praised Harris as the future leader, solidifying her candidacy as the Democratic choice for the 2024 election.

During his speech, Obama paid tribute to outgoing President Joe Biden, his former vice president, who endorsed Harris after ending his own campaign. Obama has maintained a low profile since leaving office in 2017, but remains a highly influential figure in Democratic politics.

Kamala Harris, the first female, Black, and Asian American vice president, could become the first woman to hold the U.S. presidency if she defeats Republican candidate Donald Trump in November.

Other notable speakers at the convention include former First Lady Michelle Obama and Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff. Harris has gained significant ground in national polls, surpassing Trump in key battleground states ahead of the November election. She is set to give a major speech on Thursday as the convention enters its final days.

Trump Shares AI-Generated Images Falsely Suggesting Taylor Swift’s Endorsemt

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has sparked controversy by posting AI-generated images that falsely imply pop star Taylor Swift and her fans are endorsing him in the upcoming U.S. election. The images, which appear to be deepfakes taken from right-wing social media accounts with a history of spreading misinformation, were shared by Trump alongside a message saying, “I accept!”

One image depicted Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, wearing t-shirts emblazoned with “Swifties for Trump,” while another showed Swift dressed as Uncle Sam, urging people to vote for Trump. A third image, tagged as “satire,” falsely claimed that Swift fans turned to Trump after a concert in Vienna was canceled due to hardliner threats.

Swift, who has previously supported the Democratic Party and criticized Trump during his presidency, has not publicly endorsed a candidate for the upcoming election. In 2020, she was vocal in her opposition to Trump, particularly in response to his handling of nationwide protests following the murder of George Floyd. At the time, she tweeted, “We will vote you out in November.”

Trump’s latest post is part of a pattern of sharing AI-generated images to influence public perception during the presidential campaign. Just days earlier, he posted an AI-generated image of Vice President Kamala Harris, falsely depicting her speaking at a communist rally during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Swift has yet to respond to Trump’s misleading post.

105-Year-Old Nigerian Activist Backs Kamala Harris for U.S. President

Nonye Ezeayaeche, a 105-year-old Nigerian politician and activist, has formally endorsed Kamala Harris, the U.S. Vice President and Democratic Party’s candidate, for the upcoming presidential election in November.

Ezeayaeche, who gained recognition as the oldest presidential candidate in Nigeria’s 2023 General Elections under the African Action Congress, announced her endorsement during a news conference in Abuja on Friday.

Highlighting Harris’s credentials, Ezeayaeche praised her educational background, extensive experience, and strong support among women and youth. “Kamala Harris is a brilliant leader with exceptional intelligence, and I am confident she will become the 47th President of the United States,” Ezeayaeche declared.

She also described Harris as a unifying figure and a leader with integrity, who would bolster America’s economy while promoting global peace and justice. Known affectionately as the “great, great, great grandma of Africa,” Ezeayaeche emphasized that her endorsement was based on Harris’s merits, not political affiliations.

“America is destined to be led by an ICON of democracy,” she added, expressing her belief in Harris’s capacity to guide the nation to new heights.
