AFRIMA: Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido win big

Grammy award-winning Nigerian act Burna Boy has again proved that he’s truly the ‘African Giant,as he has been adjudged the Best Act in Africa at the 8th edition of the prestigious All Africa Music Awards, AFRIMA.

He also won the Best Album of Year award, beating the likes of the likes of South African Kabza De Small, Didi B from Cote d’ Ivoire among others to clinch the award.
However, the Ivorian singer, Didi B went home with Song of to the Year Award.

Other Nigerian singers that won awards on the night were Wizkid who walked away with Best Act in West Africa award, Davido (Best Male Act in African Inspirational Music) while Adekunle Gold won two awards: Best Act Group in African contemporary music and Best Act , Duo or Group in African Pop, featuring Davido.

Best Female Act in West Africa award went to Guinean singer, Manamba Kanye.
The awards night, which was held at the 15,000 capacity Dakar Arena in in Diamniadio, Senegal climaxed the four days festival of music to celebrate African music superstars.

The glamorous event featured performances from Ghana’s rapper Black Sherif, Psquare among other acts

Nollywood actress Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayo Gaga, has welcomed her first child at the age of 38. The joyful news was shared by fellow actress Joke Jigan, who took to Instagram on Tuesday to congratulate Sobola and celebrate the safe delivery of her baby.

Jigan posted a photo of Sobola and her newborn, expressing her excitement: “The news I have been patiently waiting for. This one sweet me reach down. Congratulations, love.”

Filmmaker Ronke Odusanya also extended her congratulations, praising God for the blessing. Sobola herself shared a video on Instagram showing her baby bump, accompanied by a song of praise.

Sotayo Gaga is married to Kayode Peters and hails from Ogun State. The actress, known for films such as Ojuloge Obirin, Checkmate, Aadun, and Pregnancy Palava, holds a degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Nigerian crossdresser and social media influencer Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, over defamation allegations involving an AI-generated audio recording.

The lawsuit, announced on Bobrisky’s Instagram account on Sunday, alleges that VeryDarkMan released an audio clip that falsely linked Bobrisky to illicit relationships with high-profile figures, including politicians and law enforcement officials.

Bobrisky’s legal team claims that VeryDarkMan used the crossdresser’s name and social media influence to make unverified claims for personal gain. The legal statement reads: “Our client has informed us that in your quest for social media stardom, you have continued to exploit his name, personality, and social media influence to create media buzz for your personal gains.”

The lawsuit demands ₦1 billion in damages and serves as a warning against the use of false AI-generated content to spread misinformation about public figures.
