Gospel Singer, Sammie Okposo Is Dead

Popular Nigerian gospel singer Sammie Okposo died in the early hours of Friday, multiple sources reports

According to reports, the singer, who recently made headlines following a cheating scandal, slumped and died at his home on Friday morning.
He was 51.

Okposo set the internet ablaze early this year when he took to his verified Instagram page to apologise to his wife, Ozioma after cheating on her with another woman in the United States in an incident that happened in 2021.

As a result of the scandal, the singer made the decision to take time off from ministration in order to retrace his step with God before returning back to ministry after a few months.

In May this year, the veteran singer escaped death by the whiskers in a ghastly car accident while driving at 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos but Okposo said he “was saved from the hands of the devil and his cohorts.”

Fire guts shops in Onitsha market, destroys good worth millions of Naira

An early morning fire on Tuesday razed a two-storey building housing the Onitsha main market Police Station and shops selling lace fabrics.

The reports gathered that firefighters battled for hours to contain the inferno as some of the traders salvaged their goods while others watched in tears as the fire consumed their shops.

Spokesman of Anambra Command of the Police, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said firefighters and policemen were on ground to control the fire and prevent looting.

Warri-Itakpe train derails, over 300 passengers stranded in Kogi forest

A passenger train from Warri to Itakpe has derailed on Sunday in Kogi forest forcing many of the passengers to abandon the train in fear of kidnapping.

The reports gathered that some criminals have cut the rail line in the forest which led to the derailment of the train.

About 300 to 400 passengers of the derailed train were left stranded in fear.

It was gathered that the train which left Warri early on Sunday morning got derailed at about 12:noon inside the thick forest between Ajaokuta and Itakpe.

A former Chairman of the Bayelsa Vigilante Agency, Prince Douye Koroye, who was in VIP alleged that it might be a case of suspected terrorists cutting the rail line, a situation that may have culminated in the train derailng because it was at a high speed.

The source, who was also former Special Adviser to the Bayelsa State Government on Youth and Community Development, revealed that four coaches and the head coach of the train are badly damaged beyond repair.

He said the stranded passengers were told by the officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation to remain calm and sit back in the train while they mobilised for help.

Fire guts store at Kano’s Singer Market

Kano State Fire Service said fire had destroyed a store at singer market in Kano.

This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Tuesday in Kano.

He said the incident occurred on Tuesday morning.

According to him: “We received a distress call at about 09:49 a.m. from one Abubakar Muhammed and immediately sent our rescue team to the scene at about 09:52 a.m to stop the fire from spreading to other stores downstairs.

“An upstair building used as a store which consist of more than two rooms being used as stores was razed by the fire.”

“The cause of the fire is under investigation,” he said.
