Woman Dies After Collapsing During Testimony in Lagos Church

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of a 55-year-old woman, identified as Ifeoma, who collapsed and died while giving a testimony during a church service in the Ejigbo area of Lagos.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, provided the confirmation to newsmen on Wednesday. He stated that the tragic incident took place at 8:48 a.m. on Sunday.

According to Hundeyin, the church’s zonal accountant reported that Ifeoma had been singing as part of her testimony when she suddenly slumped in front of the congregation. Immediate efforts were made to rush her to a nearby hospital, but she was later referred to another facility in Isolo, where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives, accompanied by the complainant, were dispatched to the hospital for investigation. However, by the time they arrived, the deceased’s husband and family had already taken her body back to her hometown in Anambra for burial.

Kwankwaso’s Nephew, Top Kano Officials Arrested in ₦347m Drug Procurement Scam

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) on Tuesday arrested several high-ranking officials, including Ibrahim Kabara, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Abdullahi Bashir, ALGON Chairman and interim Chairman of Tarauni Local Government.

The arrests are part of an investigation into the alleged illegal procurement of drugs and medical equipment worth ₦347 million for Kano State’s 44 local governments. Among those questioned is Musa Garba, Managing Director of Novomed Pharmaceuticals, and a nephew of former Governor Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The PCACC has accused the officials of breaching multiple laws, including the Public Procurement Law, by awarding contracts without the necessary approval from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Sources indicate that Bashir has confessed to authorizing the illegal payment of ₦402.6 million, of which ₦347.7 million had already been paid before the investigation commenced. The detained officials are currently under intensive interrogation as the commission vows to hold all involved accountable.
